It makes all the difference that we finally have a home. In summer 2023 you helped us raise funds to finish the trappings of our building. We've purchased furniture, built additional interior walls, completed our outdoor stage, and even planted a GARDEN. Yes, our home will now produce its own lettuce, cauliflower, and cabbage!!! We now look to finish up the classroom upstairs, the roof of the outdoor stage and we will hook up the water/electricity at the Center.
This year more than any other year, we look to fill our home with more students, more programs, more community, and more ART. With our new Center finally finished, we've welcomed additional neighborhood kids every Wednesday and Saturday afternoon. We've taken on new volunteers, and the Malagasy staff has secured extra partners for the new year.
On the U.S. front, we will continue our now annual visit to Bama Kids in Wilcox County, Alabama. Teaching artists will also head up to the Hudson Valley to work with kids in Rhinebeck and we look to expand our work to reach more New York City-based organizations too.
We have big plans for the year to come in Madagascar. We need your support to make it happen. There are so many ways the Center can be a vital part of the neighborhood and we're eager to do lots of projects like a ZA production for the community surrounding the Center, field trips, English classes for the neighborhood, our ZA Tour (bringing original theatre & workshops to rural communities across Madagascar), a mentorship program to support our older students who teach the little ones, and meal support to keep many bellies full.
